Nodame Cantabile~交響情人夢

Now that all of Nodame Cantabile’s chapters had ended, we can finally move on and watch other pure love story.

Noda Megumi and Shinich Chiaki are the main character in the story, both being students from music academy have magically attracted to each other through music. Shinich is portrait as a prodigy and have everything from looks to cutlery skills, On the other hand Nodame is clumsy, dirty, otaku and perverted in her own way sets a very strong contrast on both main protagonists. The story is about finding love through music and overcome obstacles to grow up and find their way into professional musician. First series is more focused on character development as well as the musical environment in Japan, later on in series two and finale is set in Paris where they hope to attain professional debut.

First season is very pleasant and cheerful, there wasn’t as much reality check in season one as in season two and finale. The story gets more complicated and life-like towards the end when characters have to make important decisions (seaon two and three). Season two introduces the Paris life which fascinate most of people, to be able to learn music in Europe is a Dream in most cases, so the main characters starts to face music head on and being serious about it. Season three is wrapping it all up, about their relationship and career as well as a touch up on the supporting characters throughout the series. The good thing about the series is it is not too music-savy, so no matter how much you know about music, you will end up enjoying the story anyways.

Nodame Cantabile is a very enjoyable piece with great fun and well paced drama. The animation for musical instrument and finger movements across the piano keyboard are phenomenal. Brilliant music and voice acting makes you feel attached to the characters very much, when they go through sadness or joy you feel like you are part of it. Overall a wonderful saga for music lover and an unique piece of work in shojo genre.
